The Federal Housing Administration: Training for Business Partners -Development of Online Training

Situation
The continued growth of the mortgage industry and proliferation of new loan officers, brokers, real estate agents and builders who enter the field with little to no training on Federal Housing Administration (FHA) programs and loan products has led to a tremendous need for expanding the industry’s overall knowledge of FHA programs.

FHA sought to enhance its training opportunities on FHA products and programs and improve communications with industry professionals on FHA program changes and product updates.  To meet this need, FHA engaged Concentrance to assist in developing web-based training courses to reach more individuals and offer them another vehicle to access training on the basics of working with FHA and its current policies and procedures.

Approach
With the goal of expanding the outreach of FHA training to industry business partners including Realtors®, Appraisers, and Loan Officers, this project includes supporting the implementation of FHA online training programs that would also meet the continuing education requirements of state and professional associations. To do so, Concentrance converted three FHA courses to an interactive online format that will be easily accessed by industry partners through the FHA and other industry websites. In addition to creating the online courses, Concentrance will complete the course approval process by all of the states and professional associations and will maintain a learning management system.

Outcome
Concentrance will be working with FHA to implement the rollout of the first courses in late spring to early fall of 2009. A nationwide rollout will follow, providing FHA with its very first foray into online training.
